The beginning of April marks the start of Passover. We're having thirty people over to my house for Seder and then Passover continues for the rest of the week. It takes a lot of work to clean the house, prepare for thirty people to descend on us, feed them all, clean up after them once they've left, and then still have to eat Matza for the rest of the holiday. I have absolutely no idea how this will effect my writing time. Will crunching on Matza depress me and keep me from my writing or will the change in routine instead excite me into getting thousands of words written? I have no idea if my goals for April will therefore be too lofty or not lofty enough. I guess I'm about to find out!

March was an interesting month. I do feel like I got a good bit written, but I also know I could have gotten more done. Instead of writing, I was totally and completely distracted by books two of my favorite authors released this past month. I read those instead of writing and I enjoyed myself. Now that the month is over and I look at how much I wasn't able to get accomplished because I stopped to read, I still can't feel guilty. Here's how I did for the month even with those distractions:
Writing in February didn't go nearly as well as planned, so I'm hoping to make up for it in March. There's a lot I would like to get done and I think my goals reflect that.
February was definitely a month of bleh. I didn't get nearly as much done as I had hoped. I've got my fingers crossed that March will be much better.
I don't think February was a failure. I clearly needed the mental health break and hopefully as the weather warms in March my writing will also pick up again. A year is a very long time during which a large number of things could happen. Of course I want to get a lot of writing done, but I also want to get a full time job. Should the latter finally happen, I will have less writing time. Still, I have a lot of plans for stories I want to complete. My current projects list on my website is the best way to keep track of everything in real time (I've been known to update story word counts multiple times a day), but here is the short list:

Stories I Want to Make A Lot of Progress On:
I am open to writing currently unplanned stories too. I'm sure there will be anthology and collection calls throughout the year that I will want to participate in. Plus, I'm always coming up with new stories and series. At this moment, I would prefer to start moving the stories already on my lengthy current projects list to my sadly much shorter submitted list before I begin anything new. Particularly since I recently added my Supernatural Consultant series to my to-do list. That's a lot of writing to look forward to in 2015. I'm excited to see how it will all go! Happy New Year to everyone and I hope 2015 will be a good year for all. One of the things I started doing in 2014 was posting my monthly goals. It's worked really well, so I figured I might try doing the same thing for the entire year. Here is how I did in 2014. Look for my 2015 goals to come out in a few days!

Winter break is on its way! I hope everyone who celebrates Christmas is enjoying the holiday season. Hanukkah actually overlaps with Christmas this year, so I get to feel somewhat included in the fun! The upcoming Winter and New Years breaks mean that my job will be closed for two weeks. That's a lot of extra writing time, so I've written a slightly larger goals list than usual in the hope that I'll have a lot of extra time to get things done.

Having goals definitely makes a difference in how focused I am on my writing. I hopscotch between stories a lot less often, which means I can get more done in just one manuscript. However, it apparently also means that I'm repeating or adding on to the same goals month to month as the stories grow. That can get monotonous. November is therefore the month of finishing old goals so I can start embracing new ones!
First my October goals weren't ambitious enough, then I revised them and made them too ambitious. I somehow missed the happy medium, which is what I instead actually did achieve. Overall, it was a strong writing and planning month. Here's how I did:
